What is error quaternion?
The quaternion error is a four-dimensional vector defined as follows: δ q = δ q v δ q 4 = δ q 1 δ q 2 δ q 3 δ q 4 . The transformation from quaternion error, δ q , to DCM error, δ C , is given by the following: δ C = ( δ q 4 2 − δ q v T δ q v ) I + 2 δ q v δ q v T − 2 δ q 4 [ δ q v × ] . (37)
What are the methods used for attitude control in satellite communication?
The satellites' “attitude,” or orientation and orbit control are controlled by a system consisting of sensors, actuators and software. The Attitude and Orbit Control System provides three-axis stabilized Earth-pointing attitude control during all mission modes and measures spacecraft rates and orbital position.
How does attitude control system work?
Attitude is controlled by tiny thrusters that contain compressed gasses, called monopropellants. These tiny thrusters can be pointed in different directions. Firing those thrusters releases gas which makes the small adjustments needed to get the ship back on course.
