What is YUV data format?
YUV formats are divided into packed formats and planar formats. In a packed format, the Y, U, and V components are stored in a single array. Pixels are organized into groups of macropixels, whose layout depends on the format. In a planar format, the Y, U, and V components are stored as three separate planes.
Which is better YUV or RGB?
YUV color-spaces are a more efficient coding and reduce the bandwidth more than RGB capture can. Most video cards, therefore, render directly using YUV or luminance/chrominance images. The most important component for YUV capture is always the luminance, or Y component.
What does YUV mean?
As we know, RGB stands for red, blue and green and YUV stands for (Y) luma, or brightness, (U) blue projection and (V) red projection.
What does YUV mean on a DVD player?
The Y in YUV stands for "luma," which is brightness, or lightness, and black and white TVs decode only the Y part of the signal. U and V provide color information and are "color difference" signals of blue minus luma (B-Y) and red minus luma (R-Y).
