What do reconstruction filters do?

In a mixed-signal system (analog and digital), a reconstruction filter, sometimes called an anti-imaging filter, is used to construct a smooth analog signal from a digital input, as in the case of a digital to analog converter (DAC) or other sampled data output device.

What is reconstruction filter in DSP?

The reconstruction filter – which is basically a low pass filter – removes all of the high frequency signal above the Nyquist frequency that was induced because of the sampling process, leaving a “smooth” sinusoidal type waveform resembling the signal that was originally sampled.

What is ideal reconstruction filter?

An ideal reconstruction filter is used to construct a smooth analog signal from a sampled signal.
