What is LTE-M used for?
LTE-M is a branch of LTE technology that was built for Machine-to-Machine communication. Using LTE-M, IoT devices can transmit and receive large amounts of data without draining the battery, as is the case with 2G, 3G and 4G networks.
Is LTE-M part of 5G?
3GPP has agreed that the NB-IoT and LTE-M technologies will continue evolving as part of the 5G specifications, meaning that mobile operators can leverage LPWA investments already today and continue as part of the 5G evolution.
Does LTE-M work on 4G?
LTE-M is designed for roaming, just like 2G, 3G and 4G networks.
Is LTE-M the same as LTE?
Just like LTE, LTE-M allows network connectivity and data transmission. However, the difference between the two is the simplicity of LTE-M – as it trades in data transmission rate for better power efficiency and signal range.
