Understanding Farneback Displacement Estimation
  1. How does farneback optical flow work?
  2. What is dense optical flow?

How does farneback optical flow work?

Algorithms. The Farneback algorithm generates an image pyramid, where each level has a lower resolution compared to the previous level. When you select a pyramid level greater than 1, the algorithm can track the points at multiple levels of resolution, starting at the lowest level.

What is dense optical flow?

Overview. The Dense Optical Flow algorithm estimates the motion vectors in every 4x4 pixel block between the previous and current frames. Its uses include motion detection and object tracking.
