What is a beamforming microphone?
Beamforming microphones are arrays of microphone elements that can be controlled and shaped via DSP. This allows the beams to be “aimed” at specific areas of the room.
What is a tetrahedral microphone?
The Soundfield microphone is an audio microphone composed of four closely spaced subcardioid or cardioid (unidirectional) microphone capsules arranged in a tetrahedron. It was invented by Michael Gerzon and Peter Craven, and is a part of, but not exclusive to, Ambisonics, a surround sound technology.
What is dual beamforming microphone?
Multiple microphones can be configured in an array to form a directional response or a beam pattern. A beamforming microphone array can be designed to be more sensitive to sound coming from one or more specific directions than sound coming from other directions.
How does acoustic beamforming work?
Beamforming relies on different speakers responding to the same input signal in different ways—for example, by slightly delaying the signal, playing it at different volumes, or using cancellation effects. The different speaker settings allow the system to control the size, shape, and direction of the acoustic wave.
