What is automatic speaker verification?
The objective of speaker verification is authentication of a claimed identity from measurements on the voice signal. Applications of speaker verification include entry control to restricted premises, access to privileged information, funds transfer, credit card authorization, voice banking, and similar transactions.
How many types of speech recognition systems are there?
There are two types of speech recognition. One is called speaker–dependent and the other is speaker–independent. Speaker–dependent software is commonly used for dictation software, while speaker–independent software is more commonly found in telephone applications.
How does speaker identification work?
In speaker identification, an utterance from an unknown speaker is analyzed and compared with speech models of known speakers. The unknown speaker is identified as the one whose model best matches the input utterance.
