What is prach in 5G?
The physical random access channel (PRACH) is used in the uplink of cellular systems for initial access requests from the users. It is very hard to achieve low latency by implementing conventional methods in 5G.
What is prach preamble in LTE?
The PRACH preamble consists of a cyclic prefix, useful part of the sequence and then a guard period which is simply an unused portion of time up to the end of the last subframe occupied by the PRACH. This guard period allows for timing uncertainty due to the UE to eNodeB distance.
How many prach preambles are available in LTE cell?
4.2 PRACH resources
In LTE systems, every cell contains 64 preambles. These preambles are available for random access but only 54 preambles are reserved for contention based RA [13].
