What is phase ambiguity in BPSK?

Phase ambiguity is a problem in the demodulation of a BPSK signal. There are techniques available to overcome this. One such sends a training sequence, of known format, to enable the receiver to select the desired phase, following which the training sequence is replaced by the normal data (until synchronism is lost !).

What is BPSK modulation technique?

Binary Phase-shift keying (BPSK) is a digital modulation scheme that conveys data by changing, or modulating, two different phases of a reference signal (the carrier wave). The constellation points chosen are usually positioned with uniform angular spacing around a circle.

What is carrier synchronization?

Carrier synchronization is one of the key components in digital communication systems. Briefly, carrier synchronization concerns the estimation and compensation of the carrier frequency and phase differences between the transmitted signal and the corresponding received signal.

What is synchronous and asynchronous demodulation technique of PSK?

There are two classes of demodulation schemes: synchronous and asynchronous. The former exploits the frequency and phase of the carrier signal to perform the detection. The latter only uses the envelope of the carrier to perform the detection.
