What is peak finding?

If you are equal and greater than the elements on left and right side than you are the peak. In case of the edges, you only have to look at only one side. For example, position 9 is a peak if i >= h. So the problem we solve right now is represented as “Find a peak if exists”.

What is peak detection algorithm?

A new automatic peak detection algorithm is developed and applied to histogram-based image data reduction (quantization). The algorithm uses a peak detection signal derived either from the image histogram or the cumulative distribution function to locate the peaks in the image histogram.
