Are PDM and PWM the same?

A Pulse Density Modulator (PDM) circuit is a variation on the PWM that works in a similar fashion. Like a PWM circuit, a PDM circuit drives a digital pulse train on a single digital pin, and a low-pass filter integrates the digital signal to produce an analog signal.

What is PDM vs PCM?

PCM (Pulse Code Modulation): a system for representing a sampled signal as a series of multi-bit words. This is the technology used in audio CDs. PDM (Pulse Density Modulation): a system for representing a sampled signal as a stream of single bits.

What is a PDM sensor?

Predictive maintenance (PdM) typically uses data from sensors that monitor various conditions on equipment. As sensors collect data, algorithms analyze that data to predict when maintenance work will be needed.

Is PWM and PCM same?

PCM DAC effective resolution is approximately 9-bits. PWM effective resolution is much less, even same size PWM and PCM modulators are implemented. However, PWM effective resolution can also be improved to have better results. To increase effective resolution, m is modified to 7.
