Normalise data which has peaks
  1. What is peak normalization?
  2. When should you not Normalise data?
  3. Is normalization sensitive to outliers?

What is peak normalization?

Peak normalization detects an audio file's maximum (peak) level and then raises (or lowers) it to a target peak level. That target peak level is often 0dBFS (maximum available value) but could be a different level, like 6dB below the maximum value.

When should you not Normalise data?

For machine learning, every dataset does not require normalization. It is required only when features have different ranges. For example, consider a data set containing two features, age, and income(x2). Where age ranges from 0–100, while income ranges from 0–100,000 and higher.

Is normalization sensitive to outliers?

Normalizing the data is sensitive to outliers, so if there are outliers in the data set it is a bad practice.
