What is post processing in MRI?
MRI post-processing can detect subtle cortical dysplasia lesions on an individual level. The quantitative nature of MRI post-processing can be utilized to increase confidence of visually noted questionable abnormalities.
What should you not do after an MRI?
After the scan, you can resume normal activities immediately. But if you have had a sedative, a friend or relative will need to take you home and stay with you for the first 24 hours. It's not safe to drive, operate heavy machinery or drink alcohol for 24 hours after having a sedative.
What is the next step after an MRI?
Once your scan is complete, the technologist will send the images to the radiologist who will generate a report for the ordering doctor. It may take 24-48 hours for the report to be sent to the ordering provider. Results of the test will be reviewed with you at your next follow up appointment.

Radio waves cause these aligned atoms to produce faint signals, which are used to create cross-sectional MRI images — like slices in a loaf of bread.
