How MIMO can improve signal quality?
MIMO radios can utilize the bounced and reflected RF transmissions (known as multipath propagation) to actually improve signal strength even without clear line-of-site, since MIMO radios receive and combine multiple streams of the same data that are received at slightly different time intervals.
How MIMO channel capacity can be increased?
Therefore, the increase in the number of antennas increases the channel capacity logarithmically. It can be seen from Fig. 3 that under the same SNR, the capacity of the MIMO system is higher than that of the SISO system. For example, the MIMO system capacity is approximately 4,8,16,32 times that of the SISO system.
What are the impacts of MIMO?
In effect, MIMO systems use a combination of multiple antennas and multiple signal paths to gain knowledge of the communications channel. By using the spatial dimension of a communications link, MIMO systems can achieve significantly higher data rates than traditional single-input, single-output (SISO) channels.
