In an algorithmic reverb, your audio is passed through a network of digital delay lines that are modulated, filtered and fed back into each other in a manner aimed to resemble the reflections of a room, hall or chamber – or even a “super-natural” space.
How is reverb created?
Reverb (short for reverberation), is created when a sound is reflected off surfaces, and then decays as it is absorbed by surfaces and objects. The sound of reverb is most obvious when the sound source has stopped but the reflections continue and decay over time.
What does reverb actually do?
Reverb provides space and depth to your mix, but it also gives the listener important clues about where the sound is taking place and where the listener is in relation to the sound. Reverb lets you transport a listener to a concert hall, a cave, a cathedral, or an intimate performance space.
How are digital reverbs made?
Digital reverb units simulate reverb by using multiple delay lines with fading trails, giving the impression of sound bouncing off surfaces. Some digital effects allow users to independently adjust early and late reflections.
