What are the types of magnetometer?

There are two basic types of magnetometer measurement. Vector magnetometers measure the vector components of a magnetic field. Total field magnetometers or scalar magnetometers measure the magnitude of the vector magnetic field.

How does the magnetometer work?

This magnetometer measures the resonance frequency of the protons in a magnetic field by using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). When a polarizing DC current is sent through a solenoid, it creates high magnetic flux around the hydrogen-rich fuel like kerosene and some of the protons get aligned with this flux.

What are the two uses of magnetometer?

Magnetometers are used in geophysical surveys to find deposits of iron because they can measure the magnetic field variations caused by the deposits. Magnetometers are also used to detect shipwrecks and other buried or submerged objects.

What is a magnetometer and how is it used?

A magnetometer is a passive instrument that measures changes in the Earth's magnetic field. In ocean exploration, it can be used to survey cultural heritage sites such as ship and aircraft wrecks and to characterize geological features on the seafloor.
