What is the purpose of keypoint matching?

In this applica- tion keypoint matching is primarily used for finding the correct orientation and approximate position of aerial images that have been “geolocated” with a single GPS position but that do not have a known orientation.

What is keypoint detection?

Keypoint detection involves simultaneously detecting people and localizing their keypoints. Keypoints are the same thing as interest points. They are spatial locations, or points in the image that define what is interesting or what stand out in the image.

How does feature matching work?

Feature matching refers to finding corresponding features from two similar images based on a search distance algorithm. One of the images is considered the source and the other as target, and the feature matching technique is used to either find or derive and transfer attributes from source to target image.
