What is Early Late gate?

The early/late gate synchronizer megafunction is fundamentally a digital phase- locked loop (DPLL). The synchronizer is designed to provide phase lock between an internally generated data clock and an input data stream. Moreover, it can perform the traditional task of providing phase lock between two clocks.

What is Gardner algorithm?

The Gardner algorithm is used to calculate the timing error. The recovery time synchronization is performed using a Nyquist filter (Square-Root Raised Cosine filter) and an interpolation filter, these two filters are combined in a single filter to reduce the number of multiplications and additions.

What is a timing error detector?

components: a timing error detector (TED), a loop filter and an interpolator controlled by an interpolation control block. The timing error detector outputs the error signal e which is related to the difference between the unknown timing offset τ and the estimate of the timing offset ˆτ.
