Does oversampling improve SNR?
The samples obtained by oversampling are low-pass filtered and decimated using a digital filter to achieve a reduction of the quantization noise. The signal at the frequency band of interest is not affected by the filter, and the result is an improved SNR. The improved SNR results in a higher ENOB performance.
Does oversampling increase bandwidth?
Handling Higher Signal Bandwidths
The another inherent advantage of oversampling is the capability of handling higher-signal bandwidths. For the oversampling case of 200 MSPS, the ADC can handle around 100-MHz signal BW.
What gives rise to increase oversampling?
Adding some dithering noise to the input signal can actually improve the final result because the dither noise allows oversampling to work to improve resolution. In many practical applications, a small increase in noise is well worth a substantial increase in measurement resolution.
Is more oversampling better?
Choosing an oversampling rate 2x or more instructs the algorithm to upsample the incoming signal thereby temporarily raising the Nyquist frequency so there are fewer artifacts and reduced aliasing. Higher levels of oversampling results in less aliasing occurring in the audible range.
