Confidence

If the confidence interval contains 0 reject

If the confidence interval contains 0 reject

If the interval contains zero then the null hypothesis cannot be rejected at the stated level of confidence. If the interval does not contain zero then the null hypothesis can be rejected.

  1. Do you reject if 0 is in the confidence interval?
  2. What happens if a confidence interval contains zero?
  3. What if a 95 confidence interval includes 0?
  4. What does 0 confidence mean?

Do you reject if 0 is in the confidence interval?

Since zero is in the interval, it cannot be rejected. However, there is an infinite number of other values in the interval (assuming continuous measurement), and none of them can be rejected either.

What happens if a confidence interval contains zero?

If your confidence interval for a correlation or regression includes zero, that means that if you run your experiment again there is a good chance of finding no correlation in your data.

What if a 95 confidence interval includes 0?

If the 95% CI for the DIFFERENCE between the 2 groups contains the value 0, this means that the p-value will be greater than 0.05. Conversely, if the 95% CI does not contain the value 0, then the p-value will be strictly less than 0.05.

What does 0 confidence mean?

A 0% confidence level means you have no faith at all that if you repeated the survey that you would get the same results. A 100% confidence level means there is no doubt at all that if you repeated the survey you would get the same results.
