Can Fourier theorem be used for Analysing sound waves?
Fourier analysis and synthesis can be done for any type of wave, not just sound waves. Generally you don't get a nice bar graph like the one above but you get something similar; a graph that tells you how much of each component sine wave is present for each frequency in the sound sample.
What is Fourier analysis for sound?
Fourier analysis is a mathematical procedure for taking any complex waveform and determining the simpler waveforms that make up that complex pattern. The simpler waves used are sine waves. When we do a Fourier analysis, we break down a complex sound into its fundamental frequency and its harmonics.
