Is beamforming the same as beam steering?
You can implement beamsteering with simple analog phase shifters. Beamforming is different because it requires precise, real-time channel state information (CSI) from the UE to customize the beam. It needs full digital control of the amplitude and phase at every antenna element.
Is MIMO the same as beamforming?
Beamforming arrays are inherently different from MIMO in that the multiple columns of dipoles work together to create a single high gain signal. While both techniques work well, an antenna optimized for one method, does not work well for the other.

Description. The FFT beamforming demo generates multiple beams simultaneously for spatial filtering. This allows coverage of the same volume with fewer dwell positions, resulting in reduced search frame time and quick target detection.
