Gain Envelope effect
To boost or reduce amplitude over time, choose Gain Envelope (Effects > Amplitude and Compression).
Which frequencies to cut when mixing?
The most problematic frequency range in most home recordings is 250-500Hz (most instruments are heavy in these frequencies). Your mix will start to sound 'muddy' if there are too many of these frequencies evident. A gentle, wide cut of 3dB between 250-350Hz on the muddy tracks is a great place to start.
