Multitrack recording (or 'multitracking'), is a way of recording music in which separate recordings of multiple sound sources are made which are then used to create a single recording.

By default, duplicating an Instrument Track creates a second Instrument Track that sends its note data to the instrument on the original track.
What are the three stages of the modern multi track recording process?
First, the bass and drums are often recorded, followed by the chordal rhythm section instruments. Then the lead vocals and guitar solos are added. As a last step, the harmony vocals are added.
