What is filter implementation?
Implementation. Filter design is the process of creating the filter coefficients to meet specific filtering requirements. Filter implementation involves choosing and applying a particular filter structure to those coefficients. Only after both design and implementation have been performed can data be filtered.
What is digital filter implementation?
A digital filter is a mathematical algorithm implemented in hardware and/or software that operates on a digital input signal to produce a digital output signal for the purpose of achieving a filtering objective.
What are the two types of filter designs?
Passive and Active Filters
Filters can be placed in one of two categories: passive or active. Passive filters include only passive components—resistors, capacitors, and inductors. In contrast, active filters use active components, such as op-amps, in addition to resistors and capacitors, but not inductors.
What are the methods of filter design?
The filter design methods provided in the DFD toolkits include Kaiser window, Dolph-Chebyshev window, and equi-ripple for FIR filters; and Butterworth, Chebyshev, Inverse Chebyshev, and Elliptic for IIR filters. In addition, the DFD toolkit has some Special Filter Design VIs.
