What is FFT measurement?

The "Fast Fourier Transform" (FFT) is an important measurement method in the science of audio and acoustics measurement. It converts a signal into individual spectral components and thereby provides frequency information about the signal.

What is the unit of DFT?

The units of measure are predominantly micro-meters (μm). This is very small: 1μm – 1/1000 of a mm. A common range of DFT is 50 – 100μm for powder coatings.

Do Fourier coefficients have units?

It actually has units of inverse-frequency added on, so that when we multiply it by a frequency, we get the same units back that we started with. For example, if f is measuring volts, F has units of volts-seconds.

What is FFT formula?

The fast Fourier transform has become a major DSP tool since being popularized by Cooley and Tuckey in 1965. In the FFT formula, the DFT equation X(k) = ∑x(n)WNnk is decomposed into a number of short transforms and then recombined.
