What is scaling in FFT?
The Fast Fourier Transform Product guide (PG109) explains that scaling is used to avoid bit growth in the output as a result of the arithmetic operations used to implement the FFT algorithm.
Why is FFT multiplied by 2?
The reason for the multiplication by 2 is that the spectrum returned by fft is symmetric about the DC component. Since they are showing the single-sided amplitude spectrum, the amplitude of each point is going to be doubled to account for the contributions of data on the other side of the spectrum.
How is FFT size calculated?
The FFT provides amplitude and phase values for each bin. The bin width is stated in hertz. The bin width can be calculated by dividing the sample rate by the FFT length; or by dividing the bandwidth by the number of bins (which is equal to 1/2 the FFT length).
What is 64 point FFT?
The 64-point FFT is realized by decomposing it into a two-dimensional structure of 8-point FFTs. This approach reduces the number of required complex multiplications compared to the conventional radix-2 64-point FFT algorithm. The complex multiplication operations are realized using shift-and-add operations.
