What is FFT analysis in vibration?
The fast Fourier transform (FFT) is an efficient algorithm used to compute a discrete Fourier transform (DFT). This Fourier transform outputs vibration amplitude as a function of frequency so that the analyzer can understand what is causing the vibration.
Why FFT analysis is used?
In a complex signal, the FFT helps the engineer to determine the frequencies that are being excited and the amplitude at each frequency. Additionally, it highlights the changes at the frequency and amplitude and the harmonic excitation in a frequency range.
