How does an envelope detector circuit work?
The capacitor in the circuit stores up charge on the rising edge, and releases it slowly through the resistor when the signal falls. The diode in series rectifies the incoming signal, allowing current flow only when the positive input terminal is at a higher potential than the negative input terminal.
What is envelope detection method?
This envelope detection method involves squaring the input signal and sending this signal through a lowpass filter. Squaring the signal effectively demodulates the input by using itself as its own carrier wave.
Is envelope detector and diode detector same?
Envelope Detector
Here, the diode is the main detecting element. Hence, the envelope detector is also called as the diode detector.
Is the envelope detector circuit linear?
Unfortunately, all real diodes are non-linear. The current they pass varies with the applied voltage.
