What is a digital audio amplifier?

The digital amplifier system keeps the audio signal in the digital domain virtually all the way to the speaker, while the analog-based system converts the signal to analog very early in the process. The digital amplifier consists of two devices, the pulse width modulation (PWM) processor and the power stage.

Is digital amplifier better?

Digital Class D amplifiers are much more efficient (90% or more) than analog Class A/B amplifiers (about 50% efficient).

What is better Class A or Class-D amplifier?

Class A design is the least efficient but has the highest sound fidelity. Class B design is a little more efficient, but has a lot of distortion. Class AB design packs a punch with power efficiency and superb sound. Class D design offers the highest efficiency but isn't quite as high-fidelity.
