There is no difference between DC component and zero frequency component. They are two different names for the same thing.
- What is the zero frequency component?
- What is DC components?
- What does zero frequency mean?
- What is the DC component of an image?
What is the zero frequency component?
Low frequencies come in where the signal changes slowly. At the extreme, when it doesn't change at all, we have the DC component (zero frequency).
What is DC components?
DC components would be the constant voltage added to a pure AC waveform. When the AC waveform has a DC component, the average voltage would be equal to the DC voltage instead, because opposite peaks cancel each other leaving only the DC component.
What does zero frequency mean?
zero frequency means basically a constant term, no wave, no peaks passing you ever. Notice that the "wave" would have infinite period and wavelength, the time between peaks become infinite.
What is the DC component of an image?
In the context of an image the "DC" component is just the average (arithmetic mean) of the entire image. The term "DC" comes from the field of electrical engineering, where "DC" refers to direct current, or current flow that doesn't cycle periodically like alternating current (AC).
