How does QAM demodulation work?

In the QAM demodulation process, a balun is used to split the incoming modulated signal to allow extraction of the in-phase and quadrature components of the signal. The signals can be coherently extracted since the two components are orthogonal to each other.

What is 4 QAM?

Four-QAM uses four combinations of phase and amplitude. Moreover, each combination is assigned a 2-bit digital pattern. For example, suppose you want to generate the bitstream (1,0,0,1,1,1).

How do you demodulate an AM signal?

An AM radio signal can be demodulated by rectifying it to remove one side of the carrier, and then filtering to remove the radio-frequency component, leaving only the modulating audio component. This is equivalent to peak detection with a suitably long time constant.
