What is subpixel in image?
A subpixel edge estimation technique is used to generate a high resolution edge map from the low resolution image, and then the high resolution edge map is used to guide the interpolation of the low resolution image to the final high resolution version.
Does pixel shift increase resolution?
Pixel shift is a method in digital cameras for producing a super resolution image. The method works by taking several images, after each such capture moving ("shifting") the sensor to a new position.
Does pixel shifting work?
Pixel shifting works, and you don't need a higher resolution content to use it. Many commercial projectors use pixel shifting even when not using 4K content because the data can be interpolated to emulate higher resolution, so the projector can improve the perceived sharpness of the picture, even if it's 1080p content.
