What is spectrum normalization?

Spectral Normalization is a normalization technique used for generative adversarial networks, used to stabilize training of the discriminator. Spectral normalization has the convenient property that the Lipschitz constant is the only hyper-parameter to be tuned.

What does Foucault mean by normalization?

As Foucault used the term, normalization involved the construction of an idealized norm of conduct – for example, the way a proper soldier ideally should stand, march, present arms, and so on, as defined in minute detail – and then rewarding or punishing individuals for conforming to or deviating from this ideal.

What is normalization in mass spectrometry?

To date, mass spectrometry (MS) data remain inherently biased as a result of reasons ranging from sample handling to differences caused by the instrumentation. Normalization is the process that aims to account for the bias and make samples more comparable.

How do you normalize spectra data?

Find out the highest absorbance value and divide each absorbance by that number. For instance, if the highest peak absorbance was 1.05 in the whole spectrum, divide each absorbance value by 1.05 in excel and re-plot the spectrum.
