What are BCH codes and RS codes?
The RS code is a subset of the BCH code. The coding process of the BCH is simple to implement. The decoding process of the BCH codes is relatively simple. The RS code is more suitable for concatenated codes.
How many errors can a BCH code correct?
It has minimal Hamming distance at least 7 and corrects up to three errors.
How does Reed Solomon error correction work?
Reed-Solomon error correction is a forward error correction code. It works by oversampling a polynomial constructed from the data. The polynomial is evaluated at several points, and these values are sent or recorded. Sampling the polynomial more often than is necessary makes the polynomial over-determined.
What is the error correction capability of an RS 204188 coder?
This code allows up to 8 symbols of data to be corrupted and still be corrected, that is a total of 64 bits.
