What is Barker code used for?

Barker codes are used for pulse compression of radar signals. There are Barker codes of lengths 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 11, and 13, and it is conjectured that no longer Barker codes exist.

How many Barker codes are there?

Barker codes are named after their inventor Ronald Hugh Barker, who examined 6 000 different polynomials in a study published in 1953. This resulted in the list of the 9 known Barker codes. (Simple negations or inversions of the pulse sequence would also be possible, but are faded out here).

Is Barker code used for spread spectrum?

Here, 11-bit Barker code is used to spread the spectrum; however, other spreading codes having any bit-size may also be used instead of 11-bit Barker code.
