So here's how to how to hide your av receiver. Rather than keeping your AV receiver in plain site where it can be cumbersome and an eyesore, an easy way to solve this issue is placing it on a wire rack within a closet so that it's out of the way.
How much space does an AV receiver need?
Although there's no definitive specification, we recommend a minimum of 6 inches of ventilation space above and 2 inches on either side of the AVR. This will reduce the risk of the unit overheating and tripping the internal protection circuit when playing at a high volume output level.
Can an AV receiver be placed on its side?
Everything about the machine is designed to vent heat up and out, not to the side. By putting it on its side, you will block one of the side vents, and another side essentially becomes the top and all the heat will have to vent out through the much smaller side vents.
