How do you measure disfluency?
Divide the number of instances of stuttering by the number of syllables in the sample and multiply by 100 to obtain the percentage of stuttered syllables. Subtract this number from 100 to obtain the percentage of fluent speech.

The following types of disfluencies happen when someone stutters: Part-word repetitions – "I w-w-w-want a drink." One-syllable word repetitions – "Go-go-go away." Prolonged sounds – "Ssssssssam is nice."

' While 'disfluent' feigns at being objective and sterile, 'dysfluent' recognizes that when we stutter we are not simply performing a lack, but we are transgressing the entire moral code of how society expects us to speak. To stutter is to disobey, to overstep the narrow boundaries of able-bodied speech.
