How are shadows formed?

Shadows are formed when an opaque object or material is placed in the path of rays of light. The opaque material does not let the light pass through it. The light rays that go past the edges of the material make an outline for the shadow.

Can shadows have color?

When you block two lights, you see a shadow of the third color—for example, block the red and green lights and you get a blue shadow. If you block only one of the lights, you get a shadow whose color is a mixture of the other two.

Do all objects formed shadows?

Light falls on all the objects but not all the objects forms shadow. If you take a ball, its shadow is formed. But if you take the same ball in the dark room, you cannot see the shadow of the ball. This is because there is no light present in the dark room.

Why the shadows are in different Colours?

When lights of various colours strike in the same place, preferably on a surface that is white in colour, the light reflecting from that place is the sum of the lights that strike upon it. Therefore, we see different coloured shadows on the white surface with various colour combinations.
