How do you make an audio pan?
Panning describes the process of placing a sound to the left or right side of the stereo image. This is made by decreasing either the left signal level (pan right) or the right signal level (pan left). In most DAW's, panning can be achieved using a 'pan slider', which you can often find in your mixer.
How does pan work audio?
Panning audio lets you distribute sound across the stereo or surround spectrum to create balance or a special effect. For example, you can place more sound in the right channel of a stereo clip or less sound in the center channel of a surround clip.
How are instruments panned?
Suggested Panning Positions
A clock face is used as the comparable analogy to panning, with 7 and 5 on the clock being hard left and hard right. Pan the instruments anywhere between these positions. For a stereo recording of the piano, pan the two tracks left and right. If recorded in mono try panning just off centre.
